The executive assistant to the chancellor works closely with the chancellor in a number of important contexts: managing the daily requirements of the office with regard to all communications, contacts, calendar, travel, public appearances, conflict resolution, research and other professional activities. She also effectively balances the many demands on the chancellor’s time between students, faculty, staff, university and other constituents in order to ensure integration of institutional goals and priorities. The executive assistant may initiate policy and procedural changes for optimizing efficiency of the Chancellor’s Office. She communicates routinely with university executives and administrative leadership to ensure that they are appropriately integrated on key issues, and she keeps the chancellor apprised of vital situations requiring immediate attention and triage.
