Commemoration of September 11, 2001
September 11, 2009
September 11, 2001, changed everything: our society, our nation, our world. Many lives were lost, and many more were altered forever. That day will never be forgotten; the tragedy brought us together as a country.
It is fitting that September 11 is now a National Day of Service and Remembrance, when we can again come together in tribute to the lives lost and in service to our communities and those in need.
Today, in commemoration, the carillon in Powell Library will play “America the Beautiful” at 11:50 a.m. At that time, please join me in observing a moment of silence in memory of the thousands of victims of the terrorist attacks and their families and friends.
