Congressman John Lewis receives UCLA Medal
Chancellor Block presented the UCLA Medal to Congressman John Lewis at a ceremony held at Royce Hall.
“For more than half a century,” Chancellor Block said in introducing the congressman. “John Lewis has been one of the strongest and most enduring voices of the American conscience.”
“He never wavered on issues important to our nation,” Chancellor Block told the audience before presenting Lewis with the medal. “He never stood still when confronted with injustice. … He never allowed us to forget our past … or to give up on a better future.”
