Chancellor Block joined physicist and philanthropist Mani L. Bhaumik at the ribbon cutting of the Mani L. Bhaumik Institute for Theoretical Physics at UCLA.

“Mani Bhaumik’s generous gift provides much-needed resources to further the important research and discovery that takes place here every day,” said Chancellor Block. “Perhaps just as important, it represents how much our community supports UCLA and believes in our researchers’ remarkable ability to shed light on nature’s greatest mysteries.”

Speakers at the ceremony included Zvi Bern, director of the Bhaumik Institute; 2004 Nobel Laureate David Gross, a UCSB professor; and Joseph Rudnick, UCLA professor emeritus.
