UCLA Finance Listening Exercise

Attendees at the chancellor’s Listening Exercise with UCLA Finance on May 28, 2025 expressed their appreciation for the discussion, especially during a time of change and uncertainty. There was interest in the chancellor’s vision for UCLA and an acknowledgement of the financially challenging environment.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the chancellor’s insights on how the university contributes to knowledge creation, retention, and transmission. They asked about the chancellor’s perspective regarding the potential impact of the 2028 Olympics on UCLA, as well as how best to navigate the evolving relationship between the federal government and higher education. Attendees were particularly interested in understanding the chancellor’s approach to addressing the university’s financial challenges, including the hiring freeze and the review of administrative functions.
