Chancellor Frenk shared this message with Administrative Officers, Deans, Department Chairs, Directors, Vice Chancellors and Vice Provosts.
Dear Colleagues:
I write to share news of an important leadership transition within the Office of the Chancellor.
After nine years of exceptional service as chief of staff and strategic advisor to the chancellor, Yolanda Gorman is stepping down from the role. Julie Sina — currently UCLA’s associate vice chancellor for alumni affairs and CFO/COO of the UCLA Foundation — will serve as interim chief of staff while we conduct the search for a permanent appointment.
A proud triple Bruin, Yolanda has served the university with insight, integrity and dedication — not only during her time in this office, but also in her roles as Alumni Regent and chair of the UCLA Alumni Association Board. I am grateful for her counsel, deep institutional knowledge and enduring commitment to UCLA. Please join me in thanking Yolanda for her service to our university.
At the same time, I am pleased to welcome Julie to this role. Many of you know Julie through her leadership of the UCLA Alumni Association, where she has overseen a transformative engagement strategy and deepened connections across generations of Bruins. Over the course of her 18 years at UCLA, Julie has also served as CFO/COO of the UCLA Foundation and UCLA Investment Company, directed Advancement Services, and served as chief of staff to the deans of the UCLA College.
Julie brings to this position a strong record of leadership, operational acumen and dedication to our university’s mission. Her career in higher education has spanned several leading institutions, and her passion for fostering community, building partnerships and advancing operational excellence will continue to serve the university well.
Please join me in extending best wishes to Yolanda and welcoming Julie into this important role.
Sincerely,
Julio Frenk
Chancellor
