Honoring our Veterans
Chancellor Block announces a series of events to honor veterans in the UCLA community.
As we approach Veterans Day, November 11, I hope all members of the UCLA community will take time to reflect on the selfless service our veterans have provided to our country.
I encourage you to join us in saluting their dedication and sacrifice at our Veterans Day ceremony, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, in Wilson Plaza. The program will feature remarks by UCLA student and alumni veterans. The event is free and open to the public, but guests are asked to R.S.V.P. at rsvp@milsci.ucla.edu.
Other important UCLA events this week include a workshop for staff and faculty on how to serve the specific needs of student veterans, a screening of the veteran-centered documentary “High Ground,” a Q&A with student veterans and community service activities. For more information and to register, visit the UCLA Veterans website.
These upcoming events build upon our longstanding support of veterans, through world-class health care, military family resilience training, groundbreaking brain injury research, entrepreneurship education, and many other programs and services. These efforts have been highlighted by the UCLA Veterans Initiative launched earlier this year to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities that come with veterans’ transition to civilian life.
We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our veterans. Please join me in expressing our heartfelt thanks to them and ensuring that UCLA continues to provide veterans with the support they so richly deserve.
