Invitation to Memorial Day Ceremony – Thursday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in Wilson Plaza

Event

Chancellor Block sent the following message to the UCLA Bruin Community.

Dear Bruin Community:

Please join me this Thursday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in Wilson Plaza as the UCLA community comes together to commemorate Memorial Day.

Though too often lost amidst barbecues and early summer celebrations, Memorial Day offers us an important opportunity to remember and give thanks to those who have perished while serving in the United States armed forces.

Many of us have friends, family members, ancestors and loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This ceremony will give us a chance to gather and reflect on the meaning of those sacrifices, mourn the lives of those who have passed, and draw inspiration from their courage.

The ceremony will include music, a color guard, and remarks from Bruins who have served in the military.

Please RSVP for the Memorial Day Ceremony if you are able to attend. I hope you will join us to pay respects to those who gave their lives and to reflect on our debt of gratitude to them.

Sincerely,

  • Gene D. BlockChancellor
