Save the Date: Centennial Celebration Launches May 18

Campus Update

Chancellor Block sent the following message to the UCLA campus community.

In just a few months, UCLA will turn 100 years old, and we will begin a yearlong celebration that reflects on our past achievements and looks ahead to an exciting future. Our centennial celebration will launch on May 18 with a series of engaging events, including a light and sound projection show that will use Royce Hall as its backdrop during Alumni Day, which will also include a series of inspiring talks at our annual TEDxUCLA program. For more details, keep an eye on our UCLA centennial website.

We hope you will join us in celebrating on May 18 and at events on campus throughout the year. We also will host a wide range of events off campus so that Bruins everywhere can be part of this historic occasion. In addition to campus-wide celebrations, individual schools and units also will be celebrating their own histories and their important contributions to UCLA’s story. UCLA Athletics, for example, is asking fans to share their favorite Bruins moments on their UCLA Athletics — Top Moments web page.

With 100 years of groundbreaking research and numerous critical contributions to our society behind us, UCLA is poised to enter our next century stronger than ever. How we rise to society’s greatest challenges will define UCLA’s next 100 years. Thanks to you and those who came before us, we are confident that future generations of Bruins will continue to leave behind a better world for those who follow.
