The No. 1 Public University — Because of You
Chancellor Block sent the following message to UCLA students.
Dear Bruin Students:
In times that continue to challenge us, I believe it is important to seize upon the moments that bring our Bruin community together and offer us chances for celebration. Here’s one such moment: UCLA was just named the No. 1 public university in the nation for the fifth year in a row by U.S. News & World Report.
To be sure, many of us share some skepticism of higher education rankings; I myself am not sure anyone could create an accurate numerical ordering of such complex institutions as universities. Nonetheless, I hope you take pride in what this recognition represents, for it is above all an acknowledgement of the importance of our mission and of the strength of our community. Our students’ energy, ideas and actions make UCLA vibrant, and this recognition is in large part because of you.
I encourage you to watch this video celebrating UCLA’s latest recognition as the nation’s top public university. If you wish to share this news with others, use the hashtag #1UCLA on social media. We also have Zoom wallpapers and social media graphics you can use to show your Bruin pride.
As we prepare for a new academic year that will be full of twists and turns, recognitions like this one reaffirm the importance of UCLA’s work and the fact that our institution — alongside the many other stellar campuses of the UC system — continues to be a model for excellent, accessible public higher education.
Thank you for everything you do to keep the power and promise of UCLA intact.
Go Bruins!
